Director of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Administrative Council (BAC ADC) of New Jersey Locals 4 & 5 retired June 1, 2020.
Tolson began his career as a bricklayer in 1988 and became a Field Representative in 1990. He later became the Secretary/Treasurer of Local 5 New Jersey and since 2006 held the elected position of Director of the BAC ADC of New Jersey Locals 4 & 5 winning re-election after re-election. Throughout his career, Tolson was appointed to numerous New Jersey local and state committees and organizations and served as a Trustee and Chairman of all of the New Jersey Bricklayers multi-employer Funds. We thank Richard for his many years of leadership and service to our industry and wish him a well deserved, happy and relaxing retirement.
At the May 2020 Nominations of Officers Tolson nominated John Capo as Director and Kevin Duncan as Secretary/Treasurer. Both candidates ran unopposed and were sworn in on June 1, 2020. Hats off to Capo and Duncan running unopposed for their offices. We extend heartfelt best wishes to John and Kevin for their dedication to leadership in our industry and for their continued success.
Gerard “Gerry” Scarano
Executive Vice President of the Int’l Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, a position in which he was appointed in 2005, retired earlier this year.
Scarano began his apprenticeship with the New Jersey Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 35 in 1969 and became a Journeyman in 1973. He became the First Vice President and Field Representative of the newly merged Local 5 NJ and later joined the ranks of the Int’l Office as a Regional Director. After being appointed in 2005 to Executive Vice President of the Int’l, he was re-elected to a five-year term of office in 2010 and again in 2015. His service and dedication to the Bricklayers Union is part of a family tradition that includes his father, four brothers, and son Jerry.
Jeremiah “Jerry” Sullivan, President of Bricklayers Local 1 New York was appointed by the Int’l President Tim Driscoll to fulfill the term of Scarano as Executive Vice President.
