Pennsylvania Contractor Steals $20 Million from Employees

Pennsylvania Charges Contractor With $20-Million Prevailing Wage Violation

As part of a state crackdown on prevailing wage theft and worker misclassification, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro has charged Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc., a longtime state Dept. of Transportation contractor with four counts of theft for allegedly diverting $20 million from hourly craft worker pensions from 2015 to 2018 to profitsharing funds for other employees and top managers of the company.

An April 8 criminal indictment accuses the State College, Pa.-based contractor of misrepresenting amounts it paid workers for fringe benefits, which were higher and would count toward meeting prevailing wages …

NJDOL Investigation Finds Solar Company Owes $800K in Unpaid Wages to Workers

TRENTON – A Camden County solar contractor was cited by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) for violations of the state’s prevailing wage laws, including the failure to pay the required wage on utility work that shortchanged 33 workers of nearly $800,000 in pay.

The NJDOL’s investigation into now-defunct Code Green Solar LLC was initiated after receiving several complaints from the company’s employees stating they were not paid appropriately for working on a project located at a manufacturing business in Hillsborough.
