2019 Flashing Classes

On Tuesday, February 26th, 2019, in Fairfield, Masonry Contractors of NJ held a flashing class in cooperation with the International Masonry Institute and NJ BAC.  Flashing manufacturer and supplier Association Members Krando Metal Products, GCP Applied Technologies and Hohmann & Barnard, as well as flashing manufacturers and suppliers York Manufacturing, WR Meadows, and Metro Building Solutions provided supplies and supplemental instruction for the Flashing Certification Class.                    

IMI’s Dan Siteman provided a seminar on codes, standards, specifications, and details.  Regional Sales Manager for York Flashing Danielle Jackson and BAC Local No. 4 instructor Manny DaSilva led a session on York’s 304 Self Adhering Stainless Steel flashing.  Tony DiAngelus, Founder & CEO of Krando Metal Products, demonstrated field cutting techniques for proper lap splices on drip edges. GCP Applied Technology’s Duong (Zong) Nguyen and Mike Heaney led a training session on compatibility concerns between air barriers, flashing systems, and sealants.  BAC Local No. 4 Instructor Keith Inglin led training on flexible flashing details such as drip edges, and corners, as well as general installation techniques.

On Tuesday January 15th, 2019, in Bordentown, the International Masonry Institute, NJ BAC, and Masonry Contractors of NJ collectively delivered the Flashing Certification course for approximately 30 Local No. 5 members. IMI’s Dan Siteman provided a seminar on codes, standards, specifications, and details. Tony DiAngelus from Krando Metals discussed different metal flashing systems with the group while Tim Durso of WR Meadows talked about some installation best practices with regards to corners, end dams, and material compatibility. NJ BAC Statewide Training Coordinator Bob Alesandro and NJ BAC Local No. 5 Instructor Ren Engelhardt provided hands on training with materials generously   donated by Krando Metals, WR Meadows, Metro Building Supply, Hohmann & Barnard, York Flashing.
